Paula Hollander, former Deputy Marriage Commissioner, City and County of San Francisco, and now an ordained minister of Universal Life Church, officiates over non-denominational,  civil marriage ceremonies, and commitment ceremonies celebrating gay and lesbian partnerships anywhere in the San Francisco Bay Area.  If she is unavailable to personally conduct your ceremony, she will refer you to someone who can.   She will also set up an interview with the officiant at no cost to you.

Background:                                      

Ms. Hollander was first sworn in as a Deputy Marriage Commissioner in December 1989 and has conducted hundreds of weddings at City Hall and off-site locations since then.  Because there were certain statutes surrounding her freedom to perform wedding ceremonies when, where, and how she and/or her wedding couple chose, Paula became a Minister of the Universal Life Church in February 1993.  Because of her ministry, Rev. Hollander is able to conduct, civil, non-denominational, and inter-faith wedding ceremonies for all couples (gay and straight), as well as commitment ceremonies, domestic partnership ceremonies and vow renewal ceremonies. 

Ceremonies Conducted by Paula Hollander:

Ms. Hollander will arrange a meeting with you to discuss your plans and desires for your ceremony.  In advance of the meeting, she will send you a copy of the ceremony she usually performs along with different options for vows, fee information, and information on how to obtain a California Marriage License along with name change information for the bride.  At your option, Ms. Hollander's ceremony can be modified or you may write one of your own.

If - because of a scheduling conflict - Ms. Hollander is unavailable to perform your ceremony, she will refer you to as many officiants as possible to help you find the one best suited to you.

Referral Service and Foreign Language Referrals:

Ms. Hollander maintains a list of Officiants who will preside over your ceremony anywhere in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Weddings by the Bay has provided these officiants with ceremonies for civil marriages and domestic partnership, or gay and lesbian commitment ceremonies.
